Various reviews for Is this the end? released as Nost on Force-inc
Ireland's finest techno export, DAVID DONOHOE aka NOST makes his Force Inc. debut with this splendid summer soundtrack. Not since LOVE INC has that the shuffle rhythm struck us in such a profound way. NOST builds on the rocking sway of his past peer with elegance and pure dancefloor sensibility. "Is This The End?" is a vigorously taunting, vocal edged, bass-kicker with a melody that I'm sure you'll recognize from years gone by . Synths and soft stringed guitars permeate "Thou Mayest" into complete elegance and pop splendor. "Frater" follows suit, gleaming in superbly orchestrated warmth, filled out with organic keys and sweet guitar chords. Look our for his full length this fall!
Force Inc continues to gravitate more into their own Force Tracks orbit with this killer bit of Akufen meets Luomo tech house gem from Dublin's David Donohoe. The title cut uses a dreamy vocal passage, muted pads and an angular stabbed bass line. Micro-house and pop music never sounded so good! The flip dons the diving gear for a pair of deep excursions bearing soft 'fragile melodies', tight rhythms and bits of real instrumentation in an almost Two Lone Swordsman vein.
Those hot snakes at Force Inc return in style with this smoky three tracker from Dublin's own David Donohoe, one of the pioneers of Dublin's burgeoning techno scene. Now it's obvious, hearing his single and having had the pleasure of hearing him spin, David's a big fan of Basic Channel as well as Hakan Lidbo's deeper, vocal oriented stuff, and this, his debut single, is a fine combination of the two.
One side deep headspace dub techno, the other shufflepop techno complete
with drum rolls, melancholic vocals and Cyndi Lauper samples.
All in all an unforgettable release from one of Dublin's finest.
Der Ire DAVID DONOHOE aka NOST präsentiert mit "Is This The End?" seine Debüt-Maxi für Force Inc. Melodischer und warmer Shuffle-Techno der besten Sorte, verfeinert mit Pop-Feeling, genau richtig für den kommenden Dancefloor-Sommer.
Deep textured kompakt styled techno cuts, upbeat funky grooves and playful blissed out melodies.
