Web design and build

I have spent many years developing an integrated approach to the design and construction of websites. This work ranges from simple brochure sites to large content-managed sites and online shop facilities.

I provide graphic design services for sites, and also the front-end construction. I write code (specialising in XHTML and CSS) with which I develop flat designs into browser ready sites. My knowledge of this coding process informs my design approach. This leads to a fully integrated approach, where a thorough understanding of the end result is present from the start, and where technical aspects inform the creative process in a seamless fashion.

Fundamentally the internet is about access to and display of information. I prioritise information architecture and this informs each design decision. For more advanced functionality - Content management systems and E-commerce - I collaborate with a hugely experienced in-house team, ensuring efficient integration of complex architecture.

All the code I produce is fully valid and accessible in line with W3C standards. My working process is efficient yet precise, and no shortcuts are taken - at the core of any effective website must be clear, concisely written code.

All of the sites I produce are search-engine optimised at the time of going live. There is a lot of misinformation being peddled regarding search engine optimisation and many myths surrounding it. I am not an SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) practitioner, nor do I provide ongoing online marketing strategies, I can provide clients with a thorough knowledge of how it -actually- works and my best practice strategies will greatly assist website performance.
