We cannot remember the things we believe
A copy of 'America, The Beautiful: being a collection of documents and speeches which have laid the cornerstone of democracy for the United States of America' from which I have cut away every line of text.
We cannot remember the things we believe, David Donohoe
Because of the accidents of the typesetting, when cutting the lines from a page, certain passages and lines are left partially intact on the obverse. This creates a stuttering modulation between blankness and short bursts of text divorced from their immediate context.

I am interested in the fixity of ideas and opinions to the extent that they become possessions. We use these as an exchange system with others and these solidities form the basis of our relationships. This is particularly apparent in groups of people, being integral to the foundation of nationality, famously and succinctly declared as "We hold these truths to be self-evident".
